What Guava card-stock?!?

Do you know where to get Guava colored card-stock? I couldn't even find a swatch in my old SU! catalogues. You see the greeting FarM had a color Challenge. It's was ...Farm Fresh Color Challenge and the colors were:  Brown , Kraft , and GUAVA! I grabbed my coupons and went to Michael Craft Superstore on my quest for Guava paper. I bought 2 different shades of this color JUST TO BE SAFE!

It there a good movie I have not seen? {gasp}

Hey there,
You know I love movies but Cinema Saturday featured a movie I had not seen! {GASP!} So I went to the library to borrow it...AND I could not even put it on hold.  They didn't have it in the catalogue. I am so CHEAp I hate renting a movie.   What was the mysterious movie?

I did watch a bit on T.V. Shack. I think I picked up on the themes.... war... Love... abandonment.. Royalty? I colored the image to resemble Isolde, and used metal embellishment  like those on Tristan's cloths.  Since I don't know the whole story I will spare the film analysis today. The challenge was to make a gable fold card inspired by the movie. I am going to try and watch the rest tonight.

Bright Spring colors!

I am very excited that spring is around the corner.
I am SO done with this muddy winter!.. Blah...
This card is for the YNS Challenge 10 Spring Colours ...... challenge as well as the Creative Card Crew's Challenge 45 Get Well Soon... WAIT the Mojo Monday 126 sketch too.{boy oh boy}
I really got creative with this stamp... See the lamp on the side table? It is actually a bottle!
I added a piece of strategically placed DP to make a lamp shade and Viola!
I wanted to use my new Shark sewing machine on this card.
So I added stitching on the top and bottom of the card.
I am not sure the tension was right but the stitching is still O.K. Not perfect! but O.K.
I love these bright colors. I had so much fun with these colors I made this wedding card too!
No challenges, just for fun.

Shutterfly: review w/ pictures

The first thing I would like to say is I was not asked to review this product. I am reviewing to share information with fellow scrapbookers. That being said I have never reviewed a product before and if I leave a un-answered question just leave a comment and I will gladly share my opinion.

My first impression:
I received a e-coupon to Shuttterfly for a free 8X8 scrapbook. I loved that! Happily I joined the Shutterfly site and was eager to get my pictures on the site and ready for a project. The Shutterfly site is very "user friendly". I had no problems signing up or finding information on Shutterfly products.
Uploading:
We I have an older MAC and found it very difficult to upload my pictures. Here is where the information was hard to find. To upload my pictures with the "iPhoto" application I had to have an iPhone or iTouch. Sadly I don't have either, so I continued to look for ways to upload my picture to Shutterfly. I was very discouraged. The link to upload my picture was not clearly marked it was labeled as an "additional Options" and then in that window as "use one by one unloader". After I finally found this I was quickly dragging and dropping my JPEG files.
Creating:
With all my pictures in an album I started to create my 8X8 scrapbook. I choose the "Simple Path" to work on my book. I had never made any thing like  this I wanted to have a bit of quick success. With the Simple Path I selected a theme and dragged the pictures I uploaded to an album to my creation. Since the picture I was using are now stored in my Shutterfly account I switched computers and used my husbands laptop {PC}. I liked that, because I I don't always use my MAC. I often work on project at my Mothers or on the go with Hank's PC. With a the Pc things went fast. I arranged my pictures added the captions and moved pages.
Ordering:
Like most on-line ordering fill the form and agree. I also ordered 50 free print with my 8X8 book. The priced reflected that my items were indeed free. I just had to pay shipping. I love free stuff. I thought It would be beneficial to order the items at the same time and save on shipping.
I did not save on shipping by ordering the prints and the 8X8 book at once.
I liked the e-mail that I received quickly after and the detail it showed. It stated that I had 3 hours to stop my order this was comforting for me, knowing I had time to change my mind.
Product:
The book arrived in 7 days and I was happy with that. But it came alone. The prints have not arrived. The packaging was pretty the yellow box was like a gift when I saw it. I opened the package and the 8X8 book was wrapped in a cello sleeve with Shutterfly printed on it. I though it was very cute.
Now for the real details. All of my children have black hair contrast is very important in photo processing. I am a fan of Fuji paper and Shutterfly advertised Fuji for it's print. I expected equal quality in the book. I did not get the contrast I was expecting in my 8X8 book.

Here you can see the 8X8 Book vs. the actual Photo.

The images in the 8X8 book have too much blue in them. For my dark haired children it almost drowns out the face. I am disappointed with this. I made this book for my mother and the faces are what she wants to show her friends.

Overall:
Shutterfly has great service and beautiful presentation of there products.
The paper in the book is very vibrant the inside cover had a lovely cover stock. The outer cover on the Hardcover version is firm and the color is equally vibrant to the pages inside.
Photo quality is not he best. Needed more contrast for best resolution of my photos.
Still waiting for my free prints.
I would love to hear YOUR opinion of Shutterfly.
I found this review as well by Erin of Scraps and Paps.

LOST & 2S4Y

So LOST is back for it's 6th and final season. I could not resist making a card!

I used the sketch from Kazan's Sketch 46 over at 2 Sketches 4 You.
I did do a little flip to the sketch but it is the same thing in landscape form.
Check out the fancy stamping work I did on the button.
I also put a little gift together for a R.A.K.
As you may have seen I got a few R.A.K gifts for Valentine's.
It is time for me to send a surprise to some one.
I am sending a 3X3 card and these stamped goodies to the lucky friend.  I hope she has fun!

Clueless!

Hey all, I have been working on sprucing up the blog. I wanted something BRIGHT! So I took a jump at personalizing the Kraft Nook blog. {Do you like?}
I would like to make it more unique but I had to start somewhere.
I also spent a few hours away from the computer to do some real Krafting. I just loved the Sketch over at Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge and the Movie Clueless was Cinema Saturdays Feature film. {LOL What a funny movie!} One of the things this movie embraces is Fashion. It is very obvious with some of the hats and accessories the characters wear. Of course this meant I could Pile It On with the flower challenge too.
Buy it: Lovely Hat {$2}
I am very pleased with the way this hat looks. I cut it free-hand. This card would be perfect for Easter or Mother's day.

Happy Krafting!

Rock your B-Day!

**edited on February 10, 2010**
I wanted to let you in on a few secrets over at The Bombshell Stamps site.
1, They have a February Sketch Challenge! with St. Patty prize pack!
2, The have a Banner Contest.
LAST BUT  NOT LEAST: FONT GENERATOR!
So if you check out my card, You can see the sentiment on the bottom corner. I generated that image with the FONT GENERATOR!  I also used the February sketch to make this card.
I printed "Rock you B-Day" and stamped the "Rock~star" on Glossy photo paper.
I am not sure if the picture shows how truly vibrant the images are. They are shockingly SHARP!

Sleep-less in Love....

As you know I LOVE movies, so I am always eager to do the Cinema Saturday Challenge. The Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #65 - Sleepless in Seattle this week was perfect for making a MANLY Valentine. So I paired the inspiration up with Cards for Men's Challenge No. 3 and Pile it on's Challenge #5 - To The One You Love, for this card.

Asian Wedding Card

I made this card for the Caardvark "Are you ready to GET PUBLISHED?!" Challenge to make a wedding card. This is a wedding card inspired by India's hindu religion. I have gone to a few India themed wedding and felt like a pearly white wedding cards are out of character.
Hindu wedding in particular are extremely colorful.
 The people of India look at the Peacock as a sign of Love and Affluence. Red is also a color of significance for India's culture, it represents joy. I love how vibrant the image looks. To get my "birds of a feather" Peacock from Basic Grey to stamp out this bright I used "Creole Spice" Kaleido-color ink on glossy photo paper. The card-stock is from Stampin' Up in Kiwi Kiss {ribbon too}and Real Red. I used Designer paper from Me and My big Ideas' "Modern Milan" collection.

Funny Guy Valentines

**Please if you are one of my many brother remember these are supposed to be a surprise!**
I love making valentines for my brother. I have 2 natural brothers, 4 brothers-in-law and 1 other brother. Anyways, I love making them Valentines. Last year I made them Energy Drink valentines. They loved them one of my many brother even saved his because he didn't want to ruin it.
{ I told him it was O.K. I could make him a new one}
This year I thought funny movie or TV Valentines would be PERFECT!

I will show you each of them and let you in on the Joke. If you don't know the characters in the pictures. Sorry I can't help you. {hehehe} But believe me they are FUNNY!
This Spiderman Valentine says: Web "O" LOVE

This LOST Valentine says "It's Feruary 14th Brotha!"
This Chuck Norris Valentine says:Roundhouse kicking you some LOVE!

This Big Bang Theory Valentine says: "If only one of us can be the FLASH I pick you."
This Zoolander Valentine says: I love you like a brother, I don't mean it like a actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it, which I is more meaningful, I think.

Happy Valentine's Love Alice

Here I go again posting for the third time today. WOW!
I have a Twilight Valentine I made For Jasper from Alice.
The sentiment says: "I knew you would Love me."
I didn't find this quote in the book or the movie. It just seemed like something Alice would say.
The TTC Challenge is to use texture on you Twilight Valentine.
For texture I used satin ribbon and Glitter embossed paper.
These images are from the Greeting Farm and they are too perfect for Alice and Jasper.
I did take the effort to stamping Alice a little shorted that her Lovely Jasper.
{I am very pleaded with how it looks!}
I used a few other Challenges to get this card going...

Club Anya and Friends had two of the fun-nest Challenges.
I also Piled it on with
I tried something kinda new for mw here. I printed the digi Stamp on Photo paper. It is great for making the colors vibrant but not so easy for the blending with Copics. Hmmm... Back to the drawing board.
Or if it isn't Broken Don't fix it.

World Vision {scrapbook}

Hey there, Krafty friends.
I am under the weather with a sore throat. I am tying to relax so I can get back to life quickly! I thought I would show some Scrapbook pages I have been working on. These are pictures and progress reports of our World Vision Sponsor Child.  I have collected all the mail we received from her over the last 8 years and kept them in an envelope. I spoke to the kids about what we should do with the child's drawings and pictures. They asked me to create a scrapbook.

The lay-outs are all very simple since they only have one picture. I am tying to think of ways to add the progress reports and drawings. If you have any ideas please share in the comment box. But for now I am happy to have started this project.
We love supporting our World Vision Child. She is in our prayers daily and the kids think of her in such a loving manner.
F.Y.I.
If you are interested in sponsoring a World Vision Child in a country of need {maybe Haiti}
Check out World Vision's Canada , USA or International websites. You can select DOB, gender,  and/or country for your World Vision Child. We chose a female World Vision Child that was born the same year as our oldest. We did this so the kids could identify with her like a sister and they Do!
