{Season 6 is presently on the air}
This card is for Riley. I provide child care for Riley on Fridays. I am going to be out of town on her 3rd Birthday. Riley loves Backyardigans. I used a tutorial from Stamp with Heather to make her Pablo card.

Grandpa in real life

Hey there, I have a scrapbook layout for you crafters today but first I have a little note.
**NOTE**I will be adding an item to the Blog Candy every post from today until draw day!
If you have not seen the blog candy yet head over to the ~Blog Candy~ to enter.
Today I will be adding: Rub-ons by Basic Grey!
Now for the scrapbook page.
This layout is inspired by the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #69 - Dan in Real Life. I am not sure if it qualifies, since it is not a card, but, Oh well. I had never seen the movie but watched after seeing the challenge being posted. "Dan in Real Life"  is a great movie, truly a hidden gem!
The first thing I thought of after watching this movie was a father's love. Dan is an extremely loving man. He loves his parents, brother, sisters, daughters, wife, and work.
So I scrapped these pictures of my Dad's 60th birthday.
I used an old Scrappy Sunday sketch over at the Paper Craft Planet.
I scrapbook and both sides of my page.{to save card stock} So here is the back side of the page.
I turned the sketch from the front  sideway for the layout on the back.
On the back you can see the great Basic Grey rub-ons I am adding to the blog candy giveaway!

Mabel's Labels: review with personal pictures.

My first impression:
The first time I was introduced to Mabel's Labels I was amazed. "This is such a great idea" I thought.  As some of you know Hank and I have four{4} kids. We were constantly sending things out the door with the kids and hoping they will come back. The concept of labels that are waterproof, dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe seemed like a dream. I own a label maker and love it to pieces but Mabel's labels had so much more to offer in quality.
Creating:
Creating or "customizing" the Mabel's Labels is very easy. Each step of the creating is marked by a tab for easy navigation. During each step of the customizing process a "preview" is available for you to see how your Mabel's Labels will look. The colors in the preview are accurate to the actual product too! I love the colors teal and raspberry. The tabs allow you to navigate back to make quick adjustment to the Mabel's Labels while you customize. I chose to order the skinny minis and I created them in 3 minutes.
Ordering:
Ordering the Mabel's Labels is completed after you create the labels. When you are happy with your created labels you select the "Finish" tab where again you will see a clear accurate preview of your choices before you add to cart. If you don't like what you ceated just go back to the "Name" tab.  Mabel's Labels has many payment option and has great shipping rates. The bottom line in the order form is clear and shows a detailed description of the labels you orders. I received a e-mail confirming my order and re-stating contact information. I liked that a lot!
Product:
Mabel's Labels are Amazing! I have used the skinny-minis on clothing and washed them many times. These labels are not advertised as laundry safe but I and still pleased with the clear lettering and stickiness. I recently ordered a set for my scrap-booking supplies. I attend at lest 4 crops or retreats a year. Every year I lose a tool or ink pad. The Household Lables are the real icing on the cake over at Mable's Labels. The "Crafter's Pack" and the "Cord Control" are dreamy. I also have the "Allergy Alert" they say my child mane and the allergy concerns. I love this for when I take her to a drop-in or play group. No worried the care-giver will forget the Mabel's labels will remind them.
Overall:
These are a great thing. Mabel's labels clearly marking all you important items. You are free to wash dry and heat any thing that has Mabel's labels on it without a care in the world. I have had many  positive comment on the Mabel's labels I have used. A teacher thanked me because" I always know your daughters items" and a friend said "I always know what stuff you kids left behind before the get upset". If my kids will take Mabel's labels to High school I will stick it to them.

We took a week-end away for our 11th anniversary.
We went to Toronto to the Theater and Niagara Falls to the place we got married.
I used selected 3 main colors for the book: Brown Orange and Teal
I used double page layout based on Pagemaps sketches. {pagemaps}
I used Nestabilities and the Cricut for the die cuts in my Autumn 8X8 scrapbook.
To save paper on my Autumn 8X8 scrapbook I used BOTH sided of my base card-stock.
I was able to make this album in one day. All the paper in this book is from Stampin' up.

Easter card and Fax Lightbox tutorial.

This card is for the a few challenges:
  Pile it on Lucky me Challenge
Cute card thursday Challenge 101 - Ribbon-Tastic!
Clearly iStamp Hip to be square
I want to show you how I took this picture without a Lightbox.
As I mentioned I am focusing on photograph right now. {Shaz's Project 365}
{Don't worry I will still have cards and crafts} I have tried a few ways of making a lightbox but the all seem expensive or flimsy for a house with 4 kids. To get this type of picture I use some house hold items. A chair with armrests a big window and a white curtain.
Here you can see what I used: a toddler chair, a whit linen curtain and a sliding door.
Since I use the sun as my source of light timing is important. I like to take my picture between noon and 4 o'clock. I have turned the yard light on to help but it does not do much. I drape the curtain over the chair to create the "box". I tend to tuck the curtain in the seat of the chair so I can stand my cards.

When I set my card in place  I get really close to the box. I also use a close up feature on my camera to help it focus on the cards. When the image is focused I just click. It looks great every time. I love the detail and the contrast it gives having the white light around the cards.
Let me know if the tutorial was helpful.

Hello World!

Let's imaging that an Electrical storm was coming and the World Wide Web was to be smothered into oblivion! At that exact moment I would want to say: Just be kind, smile and wait your turn. Many of other things we don’t effect the important things in life: Love Family Community or even Health. Think about those things for a moment.
When some super genius fixes the internet... Are you and I going to fall into old habits? Or are we going to be more intentionally loving? Be kinder, gentler, patient people!  If we smile it will change our  local communities and Social communities too. When we get on Facebook  post a “{{{hug}}}” or "Call ME". We can't allow the tough moments to rule our lives.
I say this because, it’s hard raising kids in a negative judgmental world. I have faced a lot of judgment over our choice to have kids while we were 20.  And more for our choice to be full time Mom.  I heard: "Don't you wish you did more before you had kids?" and  my un-favorite~ "You'll wish you made other choices." I found it emotionally draining. I love being a Mom and Wife. Thankfully I had loving people in my community! They smiled. They said: "This is the best part." and "Call me anytime. Even 2 in the morning.". They encouraged me have the strength to raise healthy happy children.
We can help raise a healthy and happy generation. We have to do is be intentionally loving.  Stop judging what people do. Love people way they are. Nothing bad can come out of being kind and smiling. It will only better our lives.
My Family {Fall 2009}
